Northeast Adventure Day 5

by in Nomadic Life, Uncategorized

I awake to find that the stormy weather last night has passed. It is cloudy but nice. I have a lite breakfast and I’m off to see Gettysburg! It’s just over 2oo miles to get there.

First stop is to to a general store. My Sidi Adventure boots are “squeeky” because they are not yet broken in. So I stop off for some Mink Oil. It’s the best stuff for treating new leather. Now on to the big battlefield.

I arrive! The welcome center is new and large. This is a very popular destination for Americans as it should be.

I decide to do the “full package” deal. Which includes a twenty minute movie, cyclerama, and two hour guided battlefield tour. This painting is the largest oil painting in the north American continent. IMG_9120 IMG_9121 IMG_9122 IMG_9123 IMG_9124 IMG_9125

This is the unity monument with the eternal flame on top. It is here to represent the confederate states being joined back with the union to make one country.

This is little round top. The ultra important position that the Union Army held during the battle of Gettysburg. IMG_9128 IMG_9129 IMG_9130

After a full day of touring the Gettysburg area I am getting ready to leave and relentless rain begins to pour. The clouds were nice during the tour to keep it from being so hot. However afterwards it wasn’t so fun to ride in so on the outskirts of Gettysburg myself and all the other riders of the day decided to call it quits. IMG_9132

I have pizza at a local italian restaurant then it’s off to bed. Tomorrow I will attempt to make it to Delaware…
